DIVISION IV No. E-22-243

Opinion Delivered May 17, 2023 NORTH CROSSETT UTILITIES APPELLANT APPEAL FROM THE ARKANSAS BOARD OF REVIEW V. [NO. 2021-BR-04625]

DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF WORKFORCE SERVICES; AND ROBERT TRAVIS APPELLEES DISMISSED

BRANDON J. HARRISON, Chief Judge North Crossett Utilities appeals an adverse decision from the Arkansas Board of Review regarding a claim for unemployment benefits that Robert Travis made after his employment with the company ended. We dismiss the company’s appeal because it is not represented by a licensed attorney and therefore engaged in the unauthorized practice of law when it filed a petition for review in this court. See, e.g., DeSoto Gathering Co., LLC v. Hill, 2017 Ark. 326, 531 S.W.3d 396 (holding, among other things, that practicing law includes filing a notice of appeal and businesses cannot represent themselves pro se). In such a case, we must dismiss the appeal as null and void. Dismissed. ABRAMSON and VIRDEN, JJ., agree. Buddy Kinney, pro se appellant. Cynthia L. Uhrynowycz, Associate General Counsel, for appellee. 1
